The First Dude has waded into the 2012 GOP nomination: Todd Palin today told ABC News that he's throwing his support behind Newt Gingrich, saying that the former House speaker wasn't one of those typical "Beltway types" and that he admired his grittiness in persevering after his campaign imploded last summer. Gingrich's campaign has “burst out of the political arena and touched many Americans," Palin said, adding that he hadn't been in touch with aforementioned campaign as yet. As for Mrs. Palin? She hasn't yet decided “who is best able to go up against Barack Obama," says Todd Palin. (More Todd Palin stories.)
