Link Sought in Church Shootings

A gunman killed two staff members at a missionary training center early Sunday in Arvada after being told he couldn't spend the night, and about 12 hours later, a gunman fatally shot a person at New Life Church in Colorado Springs before...   (Associated Press)

Investigators believe there may be a link between deadly shooting sprees yesterday at two Colorado religious sites—a megachurch in Colorado Springs and a Christian missionary center outside Denver. A second victim has died from wounds suffered at the New Light Church, where a guard killed the black-clad gunman who opened fire on worshipers, reports CNN. Two staffers were killed at the missionary center earlier by a man denied a bed for the night, police said.

"There is a reason to believe that" the shootings are linked, although "this is active and I can't release that" information, said the police chief of Arvada, site of the missionary center. There were similarities in the descriptions of the gunmen in both incidents, according to witnesses. The dead gunman has not yet been identified. Investigators were in the process today of executing a search warrant at a suburban Denver home. (More shooting stories.)
