More Body Parts Found Near Hollywood Sign

Cops collect hands, feet

(Newser) – A day after dogs came upon a severed human head near the Hollywood sign, police have amassed several more body parts. Some 30 officers and dogs combed seven acres in a homicide probe yesterday, and a cadaver dog discovered two hands. Then, just before police called it a day, they found two feet. They still haven't identified the victim, but the hands look to be in good enough condition to yield fingerprints, police say.

Police think the killing may have taken place at some other location, with body parts later left at the Hollywood park. "We're hoping we can find more remains," said an officer: Wild animals, he said, may have dragged other body parts elsewhere. Meanwhile, locals, many of whom walk their dogs in the area, are making guesses as to what happened, the Los Angeles Times reports. "It's a real-life Sopranos situation," says a hiker.

As the friend looked on via the iPad, police say Christopher Piantedosi chased the girl's mother into the bedroom and stabbed her repeatedly with a butcher knife, the Union-Leader reports. More»

Body Part Found in Flier's Luggage

Chinese passenger busted at Bucharest airport

(NEWSER) - A Chinese airline passenger en route to Italy was busted in Bucharest after a body part was found in his luggage, apparently tucked away amid the underwear and shirts. A portion of a "human lower limb" was discovered during a security check, reports the Telegraph . "The fragment of a human body was discovered during the first security check at the airport, and the owner of the bag was held on the spot," said a security spokesman. All "possible leads" are being examined, said an investigator. Several gruesome murders of Chinese nationals were reported in Romania in the '90s. (NEWSER) - Yikes: A Texas man is charged with shooting and killing his wife after one of their dogs pooped in the house. Michael Stephen Stolz, 76, told police that he first shot the defecating dog—a German Shepherd mix—after the incident Saturday. Then he shot the couple's other dog, a Rottweiler. His wife Bernice, 49, was screaming as he shot the dogs ... so he shot her, too, he said. He claimed he meant to shoot himself as well but ran out of bullets. More»

Gemma McCluskie has been missing a week

(NEWSER) - A torso found in a London canal is believed to be that of an actress in the popular British series EastEnders, and her older brother has been arrested. Gemma McCluskie, 29, has been missing for a week, reports ABC . The torso was found in Regents Canal close to McCluskie's home. It's not yet clear why her 35-year-old brother, Tony, has been linked to the murder. He told the Daily Mail last week when his sister went missing that he and his family "were going out of our mind with worry. She is a bubbly, outgoing, strong and independent woman.” More»
