Sarah Palin tried yesterday to deflect Chris Christie's attack on Newt Gingrich by calling it a "rookie mistake"—made because Gingrich's South Carolina win got Christie's "panties in a wad." (The New York Daily News noted that the comment was made "without any hint of irony.") Christie supports Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination, and has called the former speaker of the house an "embarrassment." “He's been in office a year or two is all, and he'll learn that the media goad you,” Palin said of Christie on Fox Business Network.

"They want you to say things like that in order to boost ratings and make it more of a reality show-type scenario that we're watching in the GOP primary," she explained. (More Sarah Palin stories.)
