Santorum to Rape Victims: Save 'Horribly Made' Gift

'You have to make the best of a bad situation,' and have the baby, he says

(Newser) – He certainly has a way with words—and Rick Santorum is still getting ripped for some of them. Santorum last week urged rape victims to protect the "horribly created" pregnancies that may result as a "broken" gift from God. Rape victims who become pregnant should "make the best of a bad situation," Santorum told Piers Morgan. "The right approach is to accept this horribly created—in the sense of rape—but nevertheless a gift in a very broken way, the gift of human life, and accept what God has given to you." The candidate said he'd counsel a daughter who was raped to "do the right thing," just as "every father would."

"Really?" coughs Andrew Rosenthal in the New York Times. "I think some fathers might start by comforting their daughter, who had just been through a horrific act of violence, but maybe that’s just me." As for the rest of his comments, they're even "farther into the crazy zone," adds Rosenthal. Santorum also said he supports the death penalty "when there is certainty" about guilt.

I read half this headline expecting it to be a Romney article, and then realized it was Santorum and all I could think was "Why the hell am I reading about this clown still?" This guy is so done. He needs to give up already and go away.

Not the first time frothy mixtures have come out of this guy. So if a woman is raped, gets pregnant and then miscarriages, she receives two gifts from god right? Butt-froth's god must be Sheogorrath (kudos if you get the video game series reference).
