Dad Gets Restraining Order Against 4th-Grade Bully

Son was threatened with knife in Calif. school, says father

(Newser) – Here's one way to deal with bullies. A Southern California dad has taken out a restraining order against a classmate of his fourth-grade son who he says threatened his boy with a knife. A judge has granted a temporary order requiring the classmate to stay at least 20 feet away from Robert Casteel's 10-year-old son, Christopher. "My son was terrified," Casteel told ABC News. "I kept him home for five days until I got the restraining order."

A pocket knife was taken away from the other boy and he was suspended for five days. An investigation is continuing, and a judge will decide on a permanent restraining order next month. Casteel is shocked he may be the first to ever take such an action, pointing out that a 10-year-old student recently stabbed a 12-year-old to death in San Diego.

A pocket knife was confiscated by school authorities from a student who was suspended for five days.

make sure "dad" goes to jail and pays a hefty fine the next incident.  And have junior pull a few hundred hours community service for this one

Why does this kid who had a knife and threatened someone with it still go to this school at all? He should be in a special school for children with severe behavior problems, not with normal kids.

To janajayj, Im soo sorry for what you had to go thru with your daughter, it's really pitiful, how these bully girls feel they need to terrorize your daughter, they are frigging retards!  I sure hope your daughter will come out of this, tho I know it must be really tough!  These bullies should at least serve some time in jail, to teach them a lesson!  I would think this law should be enacted as such! Kudos to the dad to put a restraining order against his son's bully, yet, I do know there are no "guarantees" if it will help or not?  But really, if a student brings a pocket knife to school to terrorize another, they should be expelled altogether, not a 5 measly days of suspension!  These kids can be brazen, go against the law being such brats, perhaps just maybe their parents should serve some time in jail if their kids are like "terrorist".  There is zero tolerance for such in our country, is there? My son was bullied once by this kid when he was in grammar school, he wears hearing aids, this bully said to him, "hey deaf boy"!  Well my son gave him a good punch in the face.  BTW, he did this on his own, he knew this kid was being "ahole".  This kid's mom came over to have this talk with me, my son explained to her what her son had said to him, she got mad at her son, saying, "what's the matter with you, you have two deaf cousins"!   I still see this "kid" (now 27) around from time to time, he always waves to me as if to be friendly, which is fine by me!  After this incident happens, all was all good.  If only this could happen often, the bullies parents would take a stand to their bully kids, ohh wait, maybe they are just to busy to even pay any attention? And again, to janajayi, may God Bless to your daughter!  And to the father, whose son is being bullied, I sure hope his son will be ok!  To teach our kids, to not stoop so low over these bastards, and to stress they are the better ones!  Peace to all!  from a very concerned mom
