(User Submitted) – While some may breathe a sign of relief over the recent banning of warant-less GPS tracking by law enforcement, the more prevalent use of this device seems to have gone unnoticed. The legality for GPS tracking use by the non law enforcement officials remains untouched by the recent ruling.

Your suspicious parent, employer or spouse can already purchase a hidden GPS tracker and hide it in your vehicle. You do not have to be notified. This device can report your vehicle's exact position and path history in real time to the would be private eye. As awareness of this device becomes more commonplace and its costs fall, its use will skyrocket.

Did dad come straight home from work? Did your teenage daughter go to the mall? Did mom go to the gym? We'll see about that.

GPS is getting pretty omnipresent. With accelerometers they can even track you in tunnels. Still, it seems like if you are planting a GPS tracker in your loved one's car then you definitely have already had a communications breakdown. What bothers me is the future of the corporate worker:  ID badges with GPS and RFID chips; forget about those occasional long lunches.  Cell phones instead of desk phones; forget about personal time on weekends and evenings.  And job security?  Any time they want to get rid of you they can just cook up some made-to-order time card fraud.

This particular technology is already being installed in today's new cars at the factory. The new computers can track your route and in the event of an accident place emergency services within 90 feet of your vehicle using GPS technology. LOJAK can pin point a stolen vehicle for police today. It isn't unthinkable that these systems will be used by police and even marketing industries in tomorrows reality. Law Enforcement will always try to subvert new technology to keep track of you legally or not.
