Limbaugh Blasts 'Whining' Over Negative Campaigns

Right-wing radio host slams Gingrich and Tom Brokaw

(Newser) – Rush Limbaugh told his fellow Republicans to buck up and quit whining about negative campaigning. And not just them. "I’m getting tired hearing about it from everyone," Limbaugh said on his radio show. “What in the world is politics? What is it, if not this?” The right-wing mudslinger also took aim at Tom Brokaw for asking Mitt Romney's campaign to pull an ad that featured a Brokaw report on Newt Gingrich in the 1990s, Politico reports.

Brokaw should be more concerned with his "misleading" story than the fact Team Mitt is using the footage, says Limbaugh: “He was factually wrong about Gingrich. Gingrich was only found guilty of one ethics violation out of 84 that the Democrats brought." Limbaugh also blasts Newt for getting "caught up in this notion that Romney is saying things about him that aren’t true. ... It comes with the territory." Finally, he warns that the real mudslinging will begin in the general election: “I don’t care who’s telling lies in the Republican campaign, they are pikers compared to what’s going to happen when the Democrat campaign begins.”

(NEWSER) - Looks like the latest Florida poll is getting on Mitt Romney's nerves. Today his campaign released its first negative campaign ad, which says Newt Gingrich "cashed in" while the housing crisis walloped Florida families. Gingrich "has spent almost his entire adult life as a member of Congress or someone who has been an influence peddler,” said Romney-backer Tim Pawlenty in a call about the ad. “The notion that he was paid $1.7 million as a historian for Freddie Mac is just BS. (NEWSER) - Mitt Romney was confronted yesterday over the anti-Gingrich attack ads that a pro-Romney super PAC has been pumping out, prompting him to label the whole concept of super PACs “a disaster”—and insist he couldn’t lawfully intervene. “My goodness, if we coordinate in any way whatsoever, we go to the big house,” he said.
