Obama: I Deserve Second Term
President Obama said that he deserves a second term as president during a Super Bowl pre-game interview on NBC.   (mughtarib2011)

In his 2009 pre-Super Bowl interview, President Obama said that if the economy wasn't fixed by now, he would not deserve a second term. And today, with spiraling debt and 8.3% unemployment? "I deserve a second term," Obama said in yesterday's pre-game interview, adding: "But we’re not done." The President argued it's not where America is now, but where it's going that's crucially important, reports the Washington Post. “When you and I sat down, we were losing 750,000 jobs a month. Now we’re creating 250,000 jobs,” Obama said. “We’ve made progress. The key now is to make sure we don’t start turning in the wrong direction.”

Obama also addressed the growing nuclear crisis with Iran, and Israel's threats to take action. “They, like us, believe Iran has to stand down on its nuclear weapons program,” Obama said, adding that he thought Israel has not made a final decision on what to do yet. While emphasizing that Iran is feeling the pinch from sanctions, and that the US preferred a diplomatic solution, Obama emphasized: "We will do everything we can to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon and creating an arms race in that volatile region.” (More President Obama stories.)
