Cemetery Worker Breaks Legs Tumbling Into Grave

Middle Village cemetery was site of surprising fall

(Newser) – Mourners at a funeral in New York were shocked to see a cemetery worker plunge into a grave today and break both his legs, DNAinfo reports. The 49-year-old "was removing the strap from the casket at that time," says a cemetery official who suspected the man only hurt a knee. But the FDNY says that the worker, who was taken to hospital, broke both legs in the fall. The 160-year-old Middle Village cemetery where the accident occurred is already scary enough: It's been featured on TV shows and movies including "The Sopranos" and "Rosemary's Baby."

A longer fall than it looks.

Probably saw the Super Bowl halftime show and thought he'd be better off....at least the broken legs would be less painful.

" Mourners at a funeral in New York were shocked to see a cemetery worker plunge into a grave today" The usual  newser hyperbole telling you how you should feel about this story. New Yorkers are not shocked by anything and would have likely just laughed at guy languishing in the grave, if they had noticed at all.

"Cemetery Worker Breaks Legs Tumbling Into Grave" Still better than having to climb out of your own grave with broken legs. Just sayin'.
