Boston goaltender Alex Auld recorded 23 saves to win his third consecutive game for his new club, as the Bruins beat the Thrashers 5-3. Milan Lucic, who also had an assist, netted the go-ahead goal with just under four minutes remaining. Ilya Kovalchuk scored his league leading 24th goal for Atlanta in the losing effort, reports the AP. Elsewhere in the NHL:

  • Jason Pominville recorded 3 assists for the Sabres in a 5-3 win over the Islanders. New York has lost six of their last seven games.
  • The Blue Jackets beat the Avalanche for the second time this week after the franchise started out 2-21-2 against Colorado. Fredrik Norrena had 15 saves for Columbus in the 4-1 win.
