Mitchell Steroid Report to Throw Curveball at Commissioner

(Newser) – George Mitchell's report on performance-enhancing drugs in baseball will list more than 50 names, the New York Times reports. An insider who has read the closely guarded report revealed that it will also take swings at the commissioner's office and the players' association for putting up with drugs in the game for years.

The report, to be released today, details the findings of Mitchell's 20-month investigation. A former Mets clubhouse attendant who has already confessed to distributing steroids is said to have supplied most of the names. The players' association had been bracing for some harsh words in the report, but commissioner Bud Selig was a less expected target.
