Gore Points Finger at US in Bali

Posted Dec 13, 07 9:03 AM CST in Politics World

(Newser) – Al Gore’s latest inconvenient truth: the US is stonewalling the UN climate conference. “My own country, the United States, is principally responsible for obstructing progress here,” the Nobel laureate raged today in Bali. The US, along with Japan and several other nations, refuses to accept a specific emissions-cutting target. The EU in turn is threatening to boycott next month’s US-hosted talks.

Seeing little hope of a Bush Administration about-face, Gore told the conference to move on without the US. “Over the next two years the United States is going to be somewhere it is not now,” he promised. “Save a large open space in your document.” The past 10 years were the hottest on record, the UN announced today.
