(Newser) – JK Rowling is back, but if you're hoping for more adventures starring a certain boy wizard—or anything along the lines of those books—you're out of luck. Little, Brown and Company announced today that it had acquired the rights to publish a new book by Rowling, but this one will be aimed at adults, the New York Times reports.

"Although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series," Rowling said in a statement. "The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me." So far there's no word on the title, publication date, or plot of the new book.

Harry Potter and his flesh wand should be a big seller.

I read half of the first Potter book just to understand what the hoopla was about. Junk. Maybe OK for kids. I expect the new one to start. "It was a dark and stormy night..." Mario Puzo, The Godfather is a book I can (and did) read 4 times over.

The Harry Potter series was for adults.  I read the first one on a trip for my 30th birthday and eagerly awaited each new installment.  The bonus of being an adult was that I could take a vacation day to read a new release, and I could stay up all night reading, as I no longer have a bed time :-)
