A lesbian couple celebrating their 10th anniversary at a Phoenix restaurant shared a hug and a kiss, and then promptly got shown the door. Kenyata White posted about the incident on Facebook, however, and the ensuing social media outrage has prompted the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel to begin "reaching out" to the couple, reports the Arizona Republic. The restaurant inside the hotel, the District American Kitchen & Wine Bar, says it is "taking this incident very seriously."

White describes what happened: "My partner and I were reminiscing ... in one of the tall booths. I had my arm around her neck, and she had her hand around my waist. I gave her a hug for about a minute, pulled myself away to give her a quick kiss, and then we continued talking." Shortly afterward, a manager asked them to leave, saying their behavior was "inappropriate" and making other patrons uncomfortable, said White. (More Phoenix stories.)
