Texans Triumph Over Broncos

Posted Dec 14, 07 12:09 AM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Despite making it close late in the third quarter, the master had no answer for his pupils, as the Texans toppled the Broncos last night, 31-13, the Denver Post reports. The game pitted Broncos' head coach Mike Shanahan against not only his former offensive coordinator--Texans' coach Gary Kubiak--but also his son, Kyle Shanahan, who is Houston's quarterback coach.

Denver's anemic offense was in marked contrast to Houston's efficiency, despite similar playbooks. Ron Dayne rushed for a touchdown for the Texans, and Andre Johnson had 86 yards in the air, including a touchdown pass from the hands of journeyman quarterback Sage Rosenfels. The loss places Denver's record at 6-8, all but eliminating any hopes for a playoff spot.
