Surprise, surprise: Rush Limbaugh apologized today for calling a Georgetown law student a "slut" and a "prostitute," reports Mediaite. Limbaugh made clear that he still disagrees with Sandra Fluke and her support of the government's contraception policy, but that he went too far: "My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices," he said in a statement on his website.

In the statement, Limbaugh reiterated that he thinks "it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress" and that taxpayers shouldn't have to foot the bill for those activities. But in making the point, "I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke." (More Rush Limbaugh stories.)
