Bill Clinton has agreed to help President Obama grow his 2012 war chest. The 42nd president will be joining the 44th at a series of fundraisers in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, aimed mainly at the financial services industry, insiders tell Bloomberg. Considering how much Republican super PACs are spending, "President Clinton’s personal support is the most effective starter’s gun we have," says a Democratic strategist.
"This is still another development that reinforces Obama’s status as the front runner heading into the general election,” noted the chief political strategist at the Potomac Research Group. “The Democrats are amazingly united, with very little dissent, while the Republicans have ripped themselves apart." Just four years ago, top Democrats were telling Bill Clinton to tone down his anti-Obama rhetoric.
