Mel Gibson, Donald Trump have also made controversial statements

(Newser) – Kirk Cameron isn't backing down from his recent comments that homosexuality is "destructive" to civilization, and it turns out he has a bit of company in Hollywood. The Huffington Post rounds up 14 other celebrities who've been slammed for making anti-gay comments—only some of whom apologized:

  • Mel Gibson: He gave an interview to a Spanish newspaper in 1991, in which he commented on gay men. "They take it up the a** ... this is only for taking a s***," he said. "With this look, who's going to think I'm gay? Do I look like a homosexual? Do I talk like them? Do I move like them?"
  • Cee Lo Green: When The Voice got a bad review from a music editor, the singer and co-host tweeted in response, "I'm guessing you're gay? And my masculinity offended you? Well f--k you!" His attempt at an apology included the line, "What was homophobic about that?"

  • Donald Trump: In explaining his opposition to gay marriage, Trump last year used a golf analogy. "A lot of people—I don't want this to sound trivial—but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive," he said. "It's weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can't sink three-footers anymore … I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist."
  • Chris Brown: One of his many Twitter tirades involved him calling fellow rapper Raz a "D**k in da a** lil boy," along with the classy hashtag "#homothug." Later, of course, he insisted he is "not homophobic."
Click for the complete list, including a comedian who recommended we replace the acronym LGBT with "YUCK" and a rapper who tweeted about "shooting up a gay wedding."

Because a person is a celebrity doesn't mean he has any intelligence.  like these idiots who defy science and genetics  in the name of some religious statements that can't be substantiated .

At least there are some celebrities that have some common sense, at least more than their confederates in "Hollywood". There are no "controversial statements" made about homosexuality, just like for zoophilia and pedophilia. Homosexuals need some serious psychological help.

Evann, Just wondering when diversity of opinion and acceptance of others viewpoints  including Kirks and Donald Trumps will be acknowledged instead of attempts to ridicule and or lynch them because they spoke their minds.  Not everyone shares the consensus opinion or is PC. However this is a democracy and differing opinions should be tolerated even if it is not the consensus. Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts.
