Attacking Iran would be a big mistake, because the regime is rational enough to deal with, according to former Mossad chief Meir Dagan. In an excerpt of an interview with 60 Minutes to air on Sunday and posted online today, the ex-Israeli intelligence head stands by an earlier quote that attacking Iran was the "stupidest idea he'd ever heard." While he allowed there was not necessarily "a lot of time," he said that "an attack on Iran before exploring all other approaches is not the right way."

"The regime in Iran is a very rational one," he said, and that includes Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He's "not exactly our rational. But I think he is rational," Dagan said. "The Iranian regime is not exactly rational based on what I call Western thinking. But no doubt, they are considering all the implications of their actions." (More Meir Dagan stories.)
