Steve Ott put in the Stars' fourth goal and committed Dallas's only two penalties in last night's 4-2 defeat of the toothless Sharks. Stars top scorers Mike Ribeiro and Brenden Morrow each assisted on the other's goal, against "big, strong" San Jose, the Dallas Morning News reports. In other NHL rinks:

  • Florida gave Detroit a team-first two penalty shots, and the Red Wings defensemen in turn deflected in a couple of Panthers goals in a wacky 5-2 Detroit victory.
  • The Thrashers flailed and eventually folded to Ottawa, 7-3, to record their fourth straight loss and put coach Don Waddell's position in hotter water than ever.
