Michelle Obama dropped by David Letterman's Late Show last night, giving the dour late-night host the scoop on that Target trip that got everyone talking, sneaking out of the White House (which she apparently does semi-regularly), her dad, her "son" Bo, and more. A rundown of the highlights, as per CBS:

  • On whether her husband ever comes home and says, "Oh, that John Boehner, what an idiot": “It has never happened. Never, never. He is always upbeat, particularly about Congress.”

  • On a woman who stopped her in Target: "She said, 'Excuse me, I just have to ask you something,' and I thought, 'Oh, cover's blown.' She said, 'Can you reach on that shelf and hand me the detergent?' I kid you not."
  • On her dad: “My father had multiple sclerosis, and I never knew him to be able to walk, but my dad worked so hard and he loved us so much, and I think from him I learned just absolute, complete unconditional love, the notion that kids really don’t need anything but to know that their parents adore them. We had boundaries, but there wasn’t anything my dad wouldn’t do for us, and, uh—don’t make me cry. This isn’t Oprah! It’s supposed to be Letterman.”
