(Newser) – Civil rights leader Al Sharpton led thousands of people in a rally yesterday in the Florida town where Trayvon Martin was shot. "We cannot allow a precedent when a man can just kill one of us and then walk out with the murder weapon," Sharpton said, flanked by the slain teen's parents. "We don't want good enough. We want George Zimmerman in court with handcuffs behind his back." Sharpton was speaking just hours after the death of his mother, the AP reports. "This is where she would want me to be," he said.

The crowd cheered the news that Sanford's police chief had stepped down amid criticism of his handling of the case. Florida State Attorney Norm Wolfinger has now also removed himself from the case, saying he was doing so "with the intent of toning down the rhetoric and preserving the integrity of this investigation," reports the Miami Herald. Gov. Rick Scott— who assured the Martin family Wolfinger would be removed from the case, according to their lawyer—has announced the creation of a task force to review the state's "Stand Your Ground" law.

I do not like Sharpton. I do not believe this kid was one of "you". I believe Trayvon to be one of us. And by us I mean Americans who love all Americans, and all of America. There are a lot of injustices that occur against man because of their skin color. But it no longer matters. The consequences of actions matter more than the color of the person it happens to. What am I to care that the kid was black? What matters to me, is what should matter to everyone. That the kid was a kid, young and innocent. Only concerned about his candy and his thirst. Essentially stalked by an adult with a gun and murdered. The color of either of their skin doesn't matter.

When any young man or woman get killed in the prime of their life it's a terrible lost . I have one question for Sharpton, if the kid that got killed was white or Asian,Mexican would you be leading a rally for them,or are you the racist.

So where is Jesse Jackson? It's not like him to miss a good controversy.
