'Bikini' TV Anchor Charged With Punching NY Cop

Posted Dec 17, 07 4:34 AM CST in Arts & Living Gossip Crime & Courts US

(Newser) – An Emmy-winning news anchorwoman was arrested in Manhattan after allegedly punching a female plainclothes police officer during a road-rage altercation with three cops, the New York Post reports. Alycia Lane, anchor with Philadelphia's KWY-TV, is said to have called one of the officers "a dyke bitch"—then struck her in the face.

The confrontation occurred when a taxi in which Lane was riding with her boyfriend was delayed by an unmarked police car traveling slowly in front of them. Her attorney said Lane was "shocked these people were police officers." She was charged with assault and released on her own recognizance. Lane made the gossip pages in the spring when she sent snaps of herself in a bikini to married NFL anchor Rich Eisen. They were discovered by his wife.
