“Detroit is off to a strong start” for 2012. Chrysler has reported an increase in sales of 34.2% from a year ago. Consumers purchased 163,381 units in March, the highest level in over four years. Jeep had an increase of 36%, and 18% at Dodge. The surge is largely the result of “increases at the company's Chrysler brand,” reports Business Insider, “which posted a 70 percent jump during the month.”
Analysts at Bloomberg forecast a 31% jump for Chrysler. And CNBC reported Ford had an increase of 5% during March according to an executive from the automaker, falling in line with their estimates.
