Now that's unconditional love. A man in Britain has asked for a woman's hand in marriage—not long after she stabbed him in the back with a 12-inch knife. And he did it in court, the Telegraph reports. Tiffany Baillie has admitted to stabbing her boyfriend while he was asleep in December; the crime occurred near the first-year anniversary of the death of her infant and soon after a miscarriage. Her lawyer says she was consumed with grief and doesn't know why she did it.

The attack almost killed Gregory Todd, but after a few months in the hospital he visited Baillie in jail to tell her he forgave her. When she appeared in court to admit to the stabbing, Todd appeared in his best suit, carrying a ring. When her lawyer relayed the proposal to the court, Baillie burst into tears—but she hasn't given an answer yet. Meanwhile, the judge says he needs "some time" to decide on her sentence. Though Todd has forgiven her, "if he had died, this would have been a life sentence." (More romance stories.)
