(Newser) – Instagram signed up 10 million more users—bringing its total to 40 million—in just the past 10 days. The retro-styling, photo-sharing app was the talk of tech after releasing a version for Android and then getting scooped up by Facebook for $1 billion, reports SlashGear. Instagram launched for the iPhone in October 2010, and picked up its first 1 million users in a mere two months.

Well, thanks to Instagram, I found that there are much better apps that do the same thing, but have more features, better picture quality, and share to more networks. I like PicPlz, but I realized rather quickly that Instagram is mediocre at what it does.

Facebook, the company with 800M users and over 2,000 employees was threatened by competition from the company with 40M users and 13 employees; so much that Facebook paid half a year's worth of profit to eliminate the competition.

I installed it on my phone and fired it up..."Login or Create a new Account..." promptly uninstalled it from my phone. The last thing I need or want is another account for some retarded "Social Media" site. That is, as far as I can tell, just one big Hipster Mactard circlejerk....with a Lomo filter.
