Romney Camp: Obama Ate Dog Meat

Conservatives push back on Seamus story

(Newser) – Here come the dog wars: The Romney campaign, apparently sick of fielding questions about Seamus the Irish setter, is drawing attention to a dog-unfriendly incident in President Obama's past. The president said that he was fed dog meat as a child in Indonesia in his autobiography, Dreams From My Father, a conservative columnist revealed yesterday, prompting a top Romney adviser to retweet a photo of Obama and White House dog Bo with the caption, "In hindsight, a chilling photo," Politico reports.

The Obama campaign called the tweet a low blow, noting that Obama was just a child when he ate dog meat. Tweeted one of his campaign reps in response: "What's the next attack @EricFehrn and the RNC will surface on a 6-10 year old?" The Seamus issue resurfaced earlier this week when, during an ABC interview, Ann Romney defended Mitt's transporting of their dog in a carrier strapped to the roof of the family car.

In hindsight, a chilling photo, Fernstrom wrote.

It's a good thing the general election has started so all sides can move past the silly season they were condemning. - Maggie Haberman, Politico

You damn liberals! Romney carrying his dog on top of the car is bad, but carrying the space shuttle on top of a 747 is OK? Hypocrites! It's not OK to torture spacecraft!

A 9 years old child was given something to eat. An adult person tortures his dog by strapping him on the roof of his car and drives a gazillion miles like that. It is exactly the same thing. Not. But I am sure Mitt knows several producers of dog-torturing equipment.

Mr. Romney--develop some dignity and you will go farther in this election.
