A missing-person case in San Diego has become a complicated murder case, with some media reports hinting at links to a sex ring. The body of Brittany Killgore, the wife of a US Marine serving in Afghanistan, was found in a remote site north of the city after police found Jessica Lynn Lopez, 25, in a motel room suffering from self-inflicted stab wounds. A suicide note in the room led investigators to the body of the 22-year-old woman, who had filed for divorce from her husband a few days earlier. Lopez was briefly hospitalized before being arrested for murder, the North County Times reports.

Records show that Lopez lives with Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Louis Ray Perez, who was also quizzed in connection with the case and is in custody on an unrelated charge of possessing a stolen assault rifle. Detectives working the case have not revealed the relationship between Lopez, Perez, and Killgore, who, according to her grandmother, had packed her bags and was days away from returning to Pennsylvania to live with her parents. A neighbor who knew both women claims they were involved in "sex slave things," ABC 10 reports. (More San Diego stories.)
