Georgia Tech pulled within one point of No. 3 Kansas in the last 9 seconds of play, but an intercepted pass kept the Yellow Jackets from getting off a final shot, securing a 71-66 victory for Kansas. The play "was there. We didn't execute it, and you have to put that on me," said coach Paul Hewitt.

Elsewhere in men's college basketball:

  • DJ Augustin scored 24 points and grabbed five rebounds to squeeze No. 4 Texas past Oral Roberts, 66-56.
  • Kevin Love shot 100% from the field, contributing 16 points to carry No. 8 UCLA past Western Illinois 77-52.
