(Newser) – Susan Sarandon says she's had her phone tapped by the government, she revealed at a Tribeca Film Festival forum with Michael Moore yesterday. "We know we were under surveillance," Sarandon said during the audience Q&A. "I’ve had my phone tapped," she added, claiming that two Freedom of Information Act requests revealed the information. In addition, "I was denied a security clearance to go to the White House and I don’t know why. Do you know why?"

Sarandon and Moore, both liberal activists, were both participating in a documentary filmmaking panel that also covered other topics, the Daily Beast reports. When Moore was asked about being spied upon, he said he wouldn't be surprised if he had been but added, "I never think about it." He did predict the News Corp phone hacking scandal will replicate itself in the US, and that Fox News would be front and center: "It’s going to be discovered that it’s been going on here."
