Etan Patz Search Comes Up Empty

They found a single hair, brick with blood stain

(Newser) – The FBI and NYPD called off their search for Etan Patz in a Soho basement today, having found precious little evidence. "The digging aspect is done," one police official said. All investigators found in the basement was a single human hair, some animal bones, and a cinder block with what looked like a bloodstain on it, the New York Times and Daily News report.

Don't get your hopes up about that hair, either; a police source says it's "way too early" to say if it's human, and even if it is, it isn't blond like Patz's hair. The cinder block is being sent to the FBI's lab in Quantico for evaluation. The search also produced two Dumpsters' worth of debris, which will be preserved "like the 9/11 stuff" at a Staten Island landfill, a police official said.

The last dumpster with material from the basement of 127 Prince Street is removed from the scene, Monday April 23, 2012, in New York.

Awwwww, they didn't find anything?  How's that when the media has already fingered, tried and convicted the guy who owned the basement.
