(AP) – Don't take your guns to, er, well, gun safety class, son. A Roanoke, Va., man and his wife are recovering after he accidentally shot both of them during a firearms safety class over the weekend. The Bedford County Sheriff's Office says that Michael L. Deel shot himself in the hand with a .45-caliber handgun. The bullet also struck his wife, Michelle, in the leg as she was sitting beside him.

The incident occurred Saturday during a firearms safety class at a residence. The instructor, Thomas Starke, told police he'd left the room and then heard a shot. The Deels were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Michael Deel says the shooting was a "stupid accident." No word on whether they passed.

Usually, one hopes to make it through gun-safety class without shooting anyone.

Shit happens. Irony makes it worse. I'm sure it was purely an accident. And his ol lady will probably NEVER let him live it down! So give this poor guy a second chance. Everybody deserves one. And look, if he ends up shooting someone again, we'll have found the perfect republican VP!
