Virginia Tech Shootings Two Hours Apart

Posted Apr 16, 07 5:27 PM CDT in US

(Newser) – The gunman who killed at least 32 people at Virginia Tech this morning struck twice—two shooting sprees two hours apart, on opposite sides of the campus. Two student were killed at West Ambler Johnston, a coed dorm, at about 7:15. Two hours later 30 people were stuck down at Norris Hall, an engineering building.

At Norris Hall the shooter, who has not been identified, killed himself, police reported. Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of a second shooter. Asked why the campus was not closed after the first attack, the police chief said "it was an isolated event to that building and the decision was made not to cancel classes at that time."
