As more tsunami debris washes up in North America, more Japanese survivors may be reunited with lost items—but there'll probably be only one motorcycle. A Harley Davidson that had drifted thousands of miles across the Pacific in a container its owner had been using as a garage was found on a remote beach in British Columbia. Its maker tracked down the owner—who lost his home and three family members in the disaster—and they plan to restore the rusted cycle and return it to him, reports the CBC.

The motorcycle's survival "defies all logic," says its finder, who was relieved to discover that the Harley's owner had survived the tsunami. "The motorcycle was not strapped down. Everything was just laying loose on the bottom of the floor." The Harley's owner, a 29-year-old man who has been living in temporary accommodation since the tsunami last year, says he is amazed by its survival and he would like to someday thank its finder in person. Asked if he had anything to say to the bike, he laughed and said, "Thanks for coming back, buddy." (More tsunami stories.)
