'Into the Wild' Grabs SAG Nominations

(Newser) – Sean Penn’s drama Into the Wild took the lead in this year’s Screen Actors Guild nominations today, with four nods, including lead actor (Emile Hirsch), and overall acting, the Guild’s equivalent of best picture, the AP reports. Other films noted for full-cast performance were 3:10 to Yuma, American Gangster, No Country for Old Men, and Hairspray, while Golden Globe powerhouse Atonement went unmentioned.

Lead actor nods also went to George Clooney in Michael Clayton, Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood, Ryan Gosling in Lars and the Real Girl, and Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises. Nominated lead actresses were Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Julie Christie in Away From Her, Marion Cotillard in La Vie en Rose, Angelina Jolie in A Mighty Heart, and Ellen Page in Juno.
