Bible Belt Brings Fight to Europe

Posted Apr 17, 07 11:36 AM CDT in US Arts & Living

(Newser) – American evangelicals have opened a new front in the culture wars—across the Atlantic. Christian groups, including Pat Robertson's legal organization, the American Center for Law and Justice, are actively challenging German laws against home schooling, defending Britons who refuse to work on Sunday, and combating same-sex marriage and stem cell research across the continent.

Because European law impacts American jurisprudence, the groups hope they can nip these products of secular humanism in the overseas bud. Benjamin Bull, chief counsel for the evangelical Alliance Defense Fund, tells the Christian Science Monitor: "If we didn't try to mold precedents abroad, they could come back to hurt us."
