Cameron Texts to Rebekah Brooks: 'Lots of Love'

Apparently David Cameron loves to text—even if he's not down with the kids' newfangled texting lingo. The British Prime Minister frequently chatted with former News International boss Rebekah Brooks via text, Brooks testified today at an inquiry into News Corp's phone hacking scandal, and he'd sign his texts "lol"—you know, for "lots of love." Once she told him that the acronym usually meant "laugh out loud," he stopped, simply signing the texts "DC," the Daily Mail reports.

Brooks' "cozy" relationship with Cameron has come under much scrutiny. Brooks said reports that they texted dozens of times daily were "preposterous," adding, "One would hope he would have better things to do." But she acknowledged that they texted often, and did discuss phone hacking—"not very often, once or twice." Cameron cheered her on initially, but eventually broke off contact. "Sorry I couldn't have been as loyal to you as you have been to me," he apparently told her, "Ed Miliband had me on the run." (More David Cameron stories.)
