Media Bias? Republicans May Have a Point

Politico looks at recent coverage in the big papers

(Newser) – Republicans like to complain that the mainstream media is pro-Obama and anti-Romney, and a Politico analysis of recent coverage thinks they have a point. It notes, for example, that the New York Times ran a front-page story Sunday about Ann Romney's horse-riding, only days after burying a small item inside about a new book's revelations on President Obama's "prolific" pot-smoking habits in college. Says Haley Barbour, "The New York Times has given Obama the longest wet kiss in political history, and they have done him a favor again."

While Barbour is expected to say such things, "it’s certainly hard to argue that the Romneys’ horse-riding habits today are worse than the (David) Maraniss revelations, which have gotten little mainstream coverage," write Jim VendeHei and Mike Allen. Sure, the Obama news is from years ago, but contrast that with the heavy coverage of Romney's high school days that portrayed him as a bully, and possibly a homophobic one at that. That "5,500-word account was invested with far more significance than it merited, and is more voyeuristic than relevant to assessing Romney’s readiness for office," they write. Read the full piece here, which includes a response from the Times. Other journalists have begun pushing back against the Politico story, and the Huffington Post rounds up criticism here.

He11 must have just frozen over....  I never thought I'd see a liberal news outlet like Politico ADMIT there may be something to the changes of liberal media bias.  Ok.... So it's taken them a quarter of a century or so .... but STILL -- nice to see an attempt at some honesty on this issue.

*LOL*  *LOL*  Excuse me.  *LOL*  *LOL* The only sure way to expose GOP lies is through the internet.  The corporate-controlled media gives us scraps with that so-called liberal bias.  We've already seen how Gov. Walker spent 20 times more on commercials than his opponent.  This is only the beginning.  We're going to be bombarded with GOP commercials as a result of the $1 billion they will use against who opposes them.

Talking favorably about President Obama, is understandable, as he is the best choice to be our President for the next 4 years. Despite all of the Obstruction from the Sellout Republican Congress. The President and his administration have done a great deal to stabilize the economy, and do what best for the Whole Country.    Were as Romney can't remember what he said from one day to the next, and only seems to care about the Republican agenda.
