(Newser) – A new fragrance swears it offers the distinct aroma of your favorite city. Spray it on, and you'll smell of New York, Paris, Tokyo, Miami, or 15 other metropolises. The bottles of the perfume, called Scent of Departure, are going for $45 at airport shops, reports MSNBC, with each labeled by the city's airport code. So what does New York smell like? "Recreate a walk in the middle of Central Park … with sparking and sourish notes of apple," say promotional materials.

Delicious ... yes, I remember "Eau d'Union City, New Jersey" ... a rich, delicately-proportioned olfactory smorgasbord of bum-urine-in-the-alley, stepped-in dog shit, the faint, wafting tang of vomitus, the rich, full note of bus exhaust, and a garnish of whatever that pale blue-grey blanket of vapor was that drifted across the river from New York City.   A splash after shaving is bound to stir the heart of any retired hooker from the Park Avenue stroll.
