Cowboys Win, But Owens Hurt

Posted Dec 23, 07 5:40 AM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Tony Romo was able to play through a banged up thumb and throw one touchdown pass to Terrell Owens, Marion Barber ran for another, and that plus two Nick Folk FGs was more than enough for the Cowboys to grab a road win over the Panthers in their next-to-last game of the season. But the injury bug continued to bite the 'Boys, as Owens left the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury, AP reports.

Undrafted rookie Matt Moore started at QB for Carolina and managed to throw for 182 yards, including a 57-yard TD hookup with star receiver Steve Smith, who caught 9 passes for 137 yards. But the Moore-to-Smith connection wouldbe the only TD of the game for the home squad, as their disastrous '07 season nears a close. Dallas, meanwhile, may rest Owens next week in hopes of having him fully healthy for their playoff run.
