You'll still be able to bowl and play tennis, but the upcoming update to the Nintendo Wii also invites you to shoot zombies in the head and revel in the gore. The company releases its new console this holiday season, and the Wii is making its first serious push for the action-game market and all the violence it entails, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Partly because the first versions of the Wii didn't have the necessary graphics or high-def capabilities, Nintendo largely left the violent stuff to Sony's PlayStation3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360. That's now changing with a lineup of games that includes titles such as ZombiU. It might just pay off, notes one analyst: New consoles for the Xbox and PlayStation don't come out for another year, meaning the upgraded Wii will have a decent shot to grab some of their players in the interim.
