Bill Maher to Occupy: Less 'Camping,' More Mobilizing
Movement could learn something from Tea Party, he suggests

(Newser) – Bill Maher has apparently lost his love for the Occupy Wall Street movement. He tore into the protest movement on last night's episode of Real Time, telling participants, "Now that summer is upon us, the Occupy Wall Street movement must think of a more effective means of protest than camping," notes Mediaite. And while Maher agrees with the OWS message, he thinks their park protests are about as influential as "Paris Hilton's music career."

Maher's solution? The OWS crew needs to follow the example of the Tea Party. "Three years ago, the Tea Party was just a few hundred retired diabetics angry at blacks and gays for making them feel old. But now they have 62 seats in Congress," he said. That's because the Tea Party mobilized, registered voters, and "did all the stuff that, when the left does it, is called 'using the methods of Saul Alinsky.'"
