Atlanta rapper Lil Phat was shot and killed in a Georgia hospital parking lot yesterday evening, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The 19-year-old rapper, whose real name was Melvin Vernell III, was shot while sitting in his car. Police are looking for two men who were seen running from the crime scene. Vernell, who was best-known for appearing on Webbie's 2008 song "Independent," recorded as part of Trill Entertainment, a hiphop label based in Atlanta, according to Billboard.
