I don't think it was a crime when I was growing up and my mother was beating me with switches, belts, hair brushes and a couple of times a horse quirt. I think my father knew, but she never did it around him and he pretended not to know because he was old and she was young and beautiful and she held the "keys to the castle" so to speak. I only got over being very anxious around certain dark haired women a few years ago and I'm almost 70. It made me cry to watch the video.

This is why raising your kid in the city has merits. That stepdad would have been eating that mitt and beaten with a baseball bat.

There should be no bail for child abusers, they should be punished just as a rapist. There isn't much difference when you compare the psychological trauma it inflicts on the child.
