(Newser) – Mitt Romney kept on hammering President Obama's "private sector" gaffe on Fox and Friends today, telling the network that it was just one of a number of "very revealing comments that show just how far out of touch he is." In discussing the Federal Reserve's recent harrowing economic report, Romney then dinged the president's campaign slogan, saying, "The American people are having such a hard time. That's why the idea of selecting 'Forward' is so absurd."

That's not the only absurd thing in Romney's mind, either, Politico notes: Obama's counterattack has been to ding Romney for suggesting the US needs fewer firefighters, teachers, and policeman. But "that's a very strange accusation," Romney said. "The federal government doesn't pay for teachers, firefighters, or policemen, so obviously that's completely absurd."
