Looks like NBC wanted to replace Ann Curry with the very co-host Curry replaced. Meredith Vieira reportedly turned down the network's offer of her old job back; she simply "wasn't interested," according to TMZ. The celebrity gossip source notes that ratings weren't the only reason for Curry's departure: Matt Lauer said he wanted her gone when he signed his latest contract. NBC waited to take action so it wouldn't look like Lauer was behind the move, the site adds.
