Cory Booker Gets In on New Rescue
Except a detective was first on scene of pedestrian hit by car

(Newser) – Cory Booker might be dead to the White House, but he's trying to burnish his knight-in-shining-armor cred again. Seems the mayor was on the scene when a Newark pedestrian was hit by a car Friday, tweeting that he was among a group that "got man stabilized & into ambulance. He'll b OK. Thanx 2 all who helped." But this time the hero accolades belong to a 19-year veteran of the county prosecutor's office, notes the Star-Ledger. "The detective immediately called 911 and began to render assistance," says a prosecutor's spokeswoman. "Within minutes the mayor showed up, followed by an ambulance and Newark PD."
