The week ended Apple, 2; Samsung, 0. US District Judge Lucy Koh followed Tuesday's preliminary injunction against the sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 by issuing another preliminary injunction yesterday, this time against the sale of the Galaxy Nexus phone, reports Reuters. Per Koh's ruling: "Apple has made a clear showing that, in the absence of a preliminary injunction, it is likely to lose substantial market share in the smartphone market." The injunction won't go into effect until Apple puts up a $95 million bond to cover Samsung if a court later reverses the injunction.

Reuters' Dan Levine calls the double wins "significant because pre-trial injunctions are rarely granted." The move puts a lousy spin on an otherwise good week for Google, notes Wired. The Galaxy Nexus is Google's flagship Android device, and Jelly Bean, Google's latest version of Android, is scheduled to debut on the Nexus 7 and the Galaxy Nexus mid-next month. Writing for Beta News, Mihaita Bamburic has some kind words for Google (it "suddenly looks genius for choosing Asus to manufacture the Nexus 7 tablet") and some harsh words for Apple. He calls its patent lawsuits "an appalling way to gain temporary increase in market share" and calls Apple's claim against the Galaxy Nexus "laughable, considering Samsung Galaxy S II is by measure of many millions the bigger seller."
