Highest-Paid Actor Is ... What's-His-Name

Tom Cruise again tops the Forbes list

(Newser) Forbes is out with its annual list of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, and none other than Tom Cruise tops the list, by a mile. The birthday boy (he's 50 today) made $75 million between May 2011 and May 2012, in large part because of last year's Mission: Impossible sequel. (Thanks to his prenup, his high-paying roles might not translate into a huge payday for soon-to-be ex Katie Holmes. Click here for that.)

The top earners:

  • Cruise, $75 million
  • Leo DiCaprio, $37 million
  • Adam Sandler, $37 million
  • Dwayne Johnson, $36 million
  • Ben Stiller, $33 million

While Scientology is not my cup of tea, lets not use that as an excuse to hate on Tom.   He obviously works really hard and is a terrific athlete who does a lot of his own stuntwork. I am disappointed that he has spent so much of his career doing action flicks, but that doesn't make him a bad actor.  He was terrific in several of his dramas like Born on the Fourth of July.  Perhaps he just needs someone else with a more judicious eye picking out the scripts. And it was really rotten luck that he got stuck with the great Stanley Kubrick when he was obviously in a state of dementia.

Nobody from "LizardLick" made the list. I don't believe it.
